RiverTown softball started tonight. I used to love softball. I still like it, but as my legs get slower and my age starts to show . . . well, you know. I can't do what I used to on the field, and that bothers me. My buddy Jason is playing with us and he is only three years younger, but . . . there is a big difference between a 36 year old and a 33 year old out on the field. Especially, the morning after.
At any rate, I am excited playing with the guys again. Not so much for the softball, but for the ministry opportunity. You see, over half of the guys on our team are unchurched or not yet connected to a church. That excites me! Every game we have is another ministry opportunity . . . another opportunity to influence some guys who need Jesus. So, while I am playing softball, the real reason I am put there is not just to kick butt and win. Now it is nice when that happens, don't get me wrong. But the real reason I am put there is to see the lives of these guys influenced towards Christ. So, it's not just softball. It's a great opportunity to influence men. It's a great opportunity to share Christ with some guys who haven't yet met the God who loves them and died for them. So far, we have had one guy from our softball team trust Christ and become a believer. There will be more.
RiverTown exists to lead people to enjoy God. That is what we are doing through softball. What are you doing to lead people to enjoy God? Who are you influencing?
